Best Movies of the year 2010 - viewers and Critics choice Movies

2010 saw some mega surprises at box office with some highly publicised movies dropping at box office, even much hyped publicity stunts didn't helped big releases and at the same time small movies and movies with new commers make good money at box office. Here is the lit of top movies of 2010 in terms of reports from Box office, viewers and critics ratings:

  • Ishqiya: The movie has a tiny star cast, very unconventional script but it managed to get the uprorar at box office and at the same time win critics ratings as well. Movie made an outstanding opening weekend collection of 14 crore. No doubt performances by Naseeruddin Shah, Arshad Warsi and Viday Balan were great still much credit goes to debutante director Abhishek Chaubey as well.
  • LSD aka Love, Sex and Dhoka: I can say this was the most riskiest movie of the year. Group of new commers, topic like honour killing, MMS scandals and sting operations: god knows what was on the director Dibakar Banerjee's mind. Reviewers and critics applauded this film with comments like, ‘LSD has re-defined cinema and offered more possibilities for filmmakers’. This is true to a certain extent and the film did announce that if you’re a filmmaker with a big idea and modest funds, you still have a shot at the big league. With a controlled budget of 1.5 crore, the film grossed 5.8 crore in its first week itself.
  • Well Done, Abba: This film not only won the heart of critics but won national award also. Well Done, Abba is based on a driver’s journey of trying to build a water well in his drought-ridden native village. And all the comedy situation in the movie is based on the events following that. Shyam Benegals films are hardly termed as commercial and this movie had an averag collection at box office.
  • Tere Bin Laden - Movie was forgotten easily as happens with movies of such kind but movie has handsome collection in first few weeks which was totally unexpected. The film’s controversial name managed to receive international attention and it grossed $150,000 from Britain, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Australia. Movie earned 5 crores in the first 3 days of release.
  • Peepli Live - Aamir Khan knows how to market a movie well and that the reason why every moview he is associated with is either a huge box office hit or gets a entry to Oscars. And Peeli Live was the movie to make both things possible. It opened with a box office collection of four crore on its very first day and jumped to 15.5 crore over the first weekend and at the same time got offical entry to Oscars.
Now here is the list of most publiccised and big budget films that have big stars and still dropped at box office:

  • Kites: Kites tops the list of such movies, a whopin budget of 60 crores, lots of advertising and international premier. Perhaps Roshans were overconfident for the success of the movie and spend more on the movie than required.
  • Raavan: Raavan was predicted to be the biggest blockbuster of 2010 but it ended being on of the worse movies of the year
  • Teen Patti: Despite having Amitabh Bachchan and Ben Kingsley in the same movie the movie was a box-office disaster.
  • Veer: This film was co-written by Salman and is sais to be his dream project that turned out to be a dream Samlan would like to forget.
  • Paathshala: They wanted to recreate the sucess of Taare zaameen Par ;). It was a belo average movie.
